Pancakes day

Pancake Day in Ireland arrives at CRA de Oroso

Pancake Day, known in Ireland as Shrove Tuesday or Carnival Tuesday, is celebrated the day before Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of Lent. Traditionally, it was the last day to enjoy “rich” ingredients such as eggs, milk, or sugar before the 40 days of fasting. It is a very popular family celebration, which even includes the fun Pancake Races, races in which participants run while flipping pancakes in a frying pan.

At CRA de Oroso, we wanted to experience this tradition firsthand and prepared the traditional Irish pancake recipe, thanks to the collaboration of our language assistant Jamie. A delicious experience that highlights the importance of English culture in our school, opening our students’ minds and broadening their view of the world.

This activity also had a very special meaning, as it was one of the last activities led by our English specialist teacher, who is retiring after an entire career dedicated to education in our school. We will miss her greatly—her enthusiasm and all the wonderful activities she has created over the years.

Thank you for everything, teacher Chus. Your legacy lives on in every learning moment, in every smile… and also in these pancakes we shared together.
